““Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.”
John 16:25-27 NIV
“I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.””
John 17:26 NIV
Listen to how the NKJV translates it:
“And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.””
John 17:26 NKJV
The point is, Jesus will declare the Father’s Name and make Him known to us, that Christ will be in us, and God’s own love will be in us. Now compare John 17:26 with the following:
“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Ephesians 3:14-19 NKJV
Jesus prays and tells the Father I will declare Your Name; Paul prays to the Father from whom the whole family in heaven and on earth is named.
Jesus prays that I may be in them; Paul prays that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith.
Jesus prays that the love for which You have for me may be in them; Paul prays that we would know God’s love that passes all knowledge in all its fullness.
Read the following statement and ask yourself, “Do I really believe this?”
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
1 John 4:7-8 NIV
God is love! Do you know way down deep in your heart it is so? Or more importantly, do you know God? Here is a proof for those that have received eternal life:
“We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.”
1 John 3:14-15 NIV
Here is one of Pauls requests. You’ve heard it before:
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.”
Ephesians 1:17 NIV
Some things cannot be explained. Sometimes all that can be done is to share what is written and leave it in His hands. Jesus desires to declare the Father’s Name and make Him known. The Father has blessed you with every spiritual and will give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation so you can know Him. Trust in Him and Him alone. His wisdom comes from above and no where else:
“For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;”
Proverbs 2:6-7 NKJV
““So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!””
Luke 11:9-13 NKJV
Brothers and sisters, begin to pray for yourselves and one another that He would graciously give you the gift of knowing Him intimately and personally. We desperately need it, and He longs to do it for you.
